copied straight from my notes. this blog or thought dump was written when i was getting a pedicure, and it was the first time in a month since getting a puppy where i finally had a moment of stillness and quiet. with that, this is what the Holy Spirit downloaded to me.
Do you ever feel like you’re chasing and running after the dreams and desires the Lord has impressed upon you? And once you feel like “yes, I’ve made it, the time is finally here to walk into the fullness of what He said” and then boom, life happens and what was once in sight, seems distant again?
Well, you’re not alone and I believe that’s what many people are experiencing. I believe many people are leaving old and entering new and it looks different for everyone.
Some of you may be like Lot, who is leaving Sodom and being obedient to where the Lord is sending you as he removes every ounce of old lifestyles, habits, mindsets, and people around you.
Some of you may be like Joshua and you’ve been in the wilderness and you’re about to enter the promise land.
Some of you may be like the Disciples where Jesus has called you out and you’re seeing yourself make pivots in careers and life choices all for the expansion of the Kingdom.
Whatever you resonate with, we’re all in some way shape or form in this season of leaving and entering.
HOWEVER, there’s a group of people who are experiencing divine intervention and interruption. Where you see the promise land…You sense the new promises on the opposite side of where you’re standing currently, but yet, you’ve been encountered with a divine interruption that has made you shift focus and act on instruction.
The promise is still deep inside of you and you’re still moving towards it, but the Lord has perhaps put something in your life that is taking your focus right now.
It’s time to discern and press into “why?”
Why am I going through a divine interruption?
Let’s look at the book of Joshua in chapters 4-5.
Why is that important? For context, in Joshua 4, the Israelites had just crossed the Jordan marking a crossing over from one generation to the next. The generation before had the Red Sea, Joshua’s generation crossed the Jordan River. Prophetically, you are entering a season where those before you probably experienced the same thing you are in some capacity, but yours just looks different. From generation to generation, God does the same message, just has a different font.
Ok – follow me now. The Israelites have crossed the Jordan. Boom. We are in Joshua 5. Two major moments happen in Joshua 5: 1. Circumcision 2. Instruction
Before they marched into Jericho and started walking out the Promise the Lord has spoken over them in Exodus 23, [where the Israelites will take over the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites], the Lord instructed all of the Israelite sons to be circumcised. Why?
To establish His people. Circumcision was a distinction established in the Abrahamic covenant where God establishes His covenant with His chosen people (Genesis 17). When we look at Genesis 17, God says “The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God” (Gen 17:8), and then right after God says “This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised” (Genesis 17:10).
In Joshua, God circle backs with His covenant, and before Joshua and his generation step foot into the land the Lord promised, God reminds them of the Abrahamic covenant He made saying all of Abraham’s descendants will takeover the land he was once a foreigner in. Prophetically, the Lord is in the process of keeping His promises and you may be walking into prayers and promises of former generations that you get to inherit. It is yours for the taking, but first, He is reminding you of whom you are. The Lord established the covenant with Abraham to mark his people and to distinguish them from other nations. Circumcision was a sign you were a follower of the God of Israel. When you walk into your promise land, the people you encounter in your next season should recognize that there is a God you serve and a spirit that lives inside of you because you choose to live like Jesus.
With that, the Israelites had a divine interruption where the Lord reminded them of who they are before stepping into the promise. The funny thing about this situation was the Lord instructed Joshua to do this in the plains of Jericho. In the same vicinity and place they were about to takeover. At the end of chapter 5, the Lord starts to instruct Joshua on His plans for Jericho.
Some of you are in the vicinity of your promise land. But the divine interruption –
It’s your instruction right before you inherit the promise.
I think the most interesting detail about this story is that God had them wait until they’re fully recovered, which at that time of the ancient world, it could be about 3-6 weeks.
Imagine, you’re steps away from your promise, but the divine interruption is the Lord instructing you to do something that aligns you with His sonship, and he has you wait…just a little longer…maybe to rest, recover, or just build a little more patience and endurance.
Whatever it may be, you’re in the area. Prophetically, you’re entering into a season of answered prayers. You might be dealing with some divine interruption, but just take heed, be steadfast, stay faithful to the instruction, and obey His Word, and endure to the end of the command. Be encouraged!
You’re about to walk into what you’ve been praying for. Don’t despise the divine interruption. It’s a beautiful moment for you to remind yourself about who you are and the God you serve.
I love you all so much!
Be blessed.

Divine interruption is really preparing us for that divine assignment. What feels inconvenient often carries eternal significance as long as we respond in obedience.
Powerful message as always sister.
Thank you for the fruit.
Endless blessings.
