why do i have to live?

We all have a moment in our life where we ask ourselves a version of something along the lines of “why do I have to live?” “What is my purpose in life?” “Why am I doing this (fill in the blank)?” 

A refreshing revelation was brought to my remembrance and I believe this Word of encouragement is for those who feel lost, searching for their purpose, or for those trying to stay steadfast in the course they are on. 

Whatever stage you are in life, I do believe you can find encouragement in what I believe the Lord is trying to say to His people. 

“You were made for such a time as this.” Esther 4:14. 

Yes, I know the scripture gets overplayed and overused. Heck, I wrote a whole devotional based on the book of Esther, BUT bear with me. 

I was scrolling through Instagram and just minding my own business, and I came across this simple, cute video of a woman pilot. Immediately, I had a thought and was like “What would make her want to be a pilot?” As fast as that thought came, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said “She was made for such a time as this.” If she was born anytime prior to the birth of aviation, would she be purposeful as a pilot, probably not. She was made for such a time as this because she was born in an era where aviation and women pilots are normal.

The way my brain is wired and the way the Lord speaks to me, I was immediately receiving downloads from the Holy Spirit, and my mind was whirring. All I could think about were the pioneers and those who come after pioneers. 

Pioneers (in Keilani translation) are those who are first to develop or start something.Those who come after pioneers (historically) are settlers. 

After I was watching that very quick 15 second video of a woman pilot’s day in the life, I was thinking wow – what if the Wright brothers never opened the door of aviation? Or what if Walt Disney never made cartoon animations? Or what if Noah never built the ark? What if Alexander Graham Bell never built the telephone? 

All these questions are brewing about the pioneers of inventions. These pioneers opened the door to a whole new world of creation. Or these pioneers were people of preservation of creation. For example, Noah built the ark to preserve God’s creation after the Earth was flooded. Authors, Artists, and Entertainers create to preserve moments, places, generations, etc. inventors created to establish a foundation for a completely different lifestyle. 

I am in awe, because if we reverse this thought process, we can recognize – wow if the Wright brothers never studied aviation, would we be flying all across the world? If Alexander Bell never created the telephone would we have cellular phones and be calling people all over the world? If Walt Disney never created Mickey Mouse, would we have animation cartoons, movies, or theme parks like we do today? 

Better yet – would these people’s inventions help create jobs which are people’s passions? 

For instance, if the Wright brothers never explored the thought of aviation, would there be pilots as a profession/career? If we didn’t have Walt Disney who opened the door to animation, would we even have careers at Disneyland? If we didn’t have Alexander Bell, would we even have social media, iphones, etc.? 

I say all of this because, yes we have pioneers, but we also have settlers, who are in other words those who come after pioneers and they learn from the pioneer’s experiences, including their mistakes, and improve/build upon the original concept. Essentially, they build a better tomorrow. 

Keilani, get to the point. 

The point is – you are born out of a generation of continued innovation, education, and creation. You are divinely appointed and birthed in a generation that will use your giftings as a gift for others in their time of need. You may be the person who is a pioneer and invents something new that opens the door for something new. Or you may be a settler who comes in and helps build on top of what the pioneer established. Both are equally important. 

You were made for such a time as this, because right now we live in a world where the possibilities are genuinely endless. Your purpose in life can merely be to start a new business, to become a writer, to be a parent, to be a teacher, to be a mechanic, to be an analyst. 

Whatever it may be, someone pioneered a space so you can walk through it and help build on top of it. If nothing in this world entices you, then you may be a pioneer whose purpose is to establish something new in this life. If that’s you, partner with the Holy Spirit and ask Him for divine instruction and guidance. 

You were made to either invent something new, or you were made to build off of something. For example, you may be here to teach the next generation in a classroom, you may be the person who will become a pilot to take someone to their desired destination, you may be the person who becomes a lawyer to help the justice system. You get the point. 

You were made intentionally to serve a purpose in this generation. 

To reel it back in with Esther 4:14, if you read the first half of the verse, it says “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place…” 

In other words, if you remain silent, stagnant, unwilling to move on the desires the Lord has placed inside of you to move towards in this next year, then you cannot be mad when you see someone else do it and they are successful and thriving. 

The Lord is saying to you today and in this hour, take one step forward in what I envisioned for you. Do not be quiet, do something, and move towards what you foresee. “For the eyes of the LORD roam throughout the earth, so that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.” If not, “You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will have wars.” (2 Chronicles 16:9 NASB)

Instructionally, if you disobey the call, it’s foolish and the war that will go on will be between your soul and spirit, because your Spirit is knowing, but your soul/mind is at war for not wanting to obey what it knows it should do. 

With that, I want to encourage you. I’m not saying to make haste and quick decisions, but I am urging and encouraging you to partner with the Lord and what He is saying to you. I believe that the Lord is definitely raising up this generation and has been raising His children to Kingdom build in a new, refreshing way. 

It’s Your Time, says the Lord. No longer will you be yearning for what could be, because it will be. No longer will you be wishing it was you, because it will be you. It is your time to start planning and partnering with Me, says the Lord your God. Ask me all who are weary, and I will give you The Helper, the Counselor whom I have sent, so you can always be with Me, says the Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen.

And Why do I have to live?

So I can be answered prayer for someone else’s need. So I can live out my God – Given purpose. I write because I love it and because I am birthed to preserve the Gospel, to preserve the art and skill of writing where AI is taking over. I refuse to let bots write what only the Lord can give.
