The top 3 things you need to do everyday for wellness is to make sure you prioritize your spiritual, physical, and mental/emotional health.
I am a big believer in “if you are not well, nothing else in your life will be well.” A quote by me, for you!
Spiritual Wellness
This is a Christian blog so I will emphasize the importance of strengthening your relationship with Jesus. As Christians, we understand we are not following religion, but rather we are cultivating a relationship with Jesus. The mere basis of Christianity and one of the main reasons God the Father sent His only begotten Son, was so we can have direct relationship with Him.
In John 14:6, Jesus says
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”
Spiritual wellness can look like:
- a worship session in your car
- bible study with friends
- devotional by yourself
- a mid-week service at your church
- journaling by yourself
- intentional prayer/reading the bible time by yourself
- listening to a Christian podcast
- Watching a sermon on Youtube
- reading a Christian book (devotional, fiction, wellness, self help, etc.; anything faith-based)
These are just some examples of some spiritual wellness ideas you can incorporate into your daily routine!
Physical Health
Movement is so important to incorporate into your daily life! Another quote I live by is “any movement, is good movement.”
When people think of physical wellness, they immediately think you have to become a gym bro or pilates princess or anything that is deemed trendy right now on social media. WRONG!
The key to sustainable overall physical wellness is finding physical activities that work for you!
Physical wellness can look like:
- playing a sport (basketball, pickle ball, surfing, tennis, volleyball, hiking, etc.)
- keeps movement lighthearted, builds community, and can introduce you to new people
- going to the gym 2-3x a week (or everyday if you can/want)
- creates consistency in your life
- finding a fun, challenging hobby (judo, kickboxing, marathon training)
- this gives you something to look forward to, gives you accountability, and pushes you past your limits
- going to a group fitness class (pilates, boot camp, zumba)
- it can be being surrounded by a group of people
Sometimes we make physical activity so hard because what we see people do on social media. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Find what you love to do or try, and then DO IT. Have the courage to take the first step, and the rest will follow.
Mental/Emotional Wellness
Being mentally and emotionally well is so important to everyday living in order to stay purposeful, spirit-filled, and vision – focused. When we have a healthy mind, we are able to stay sharp and focused on where God is taking us. How do we have a healthy mind?
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2 (NIV)
The answer is to renew our mind daily!
How do we renew our mind?
Similarly to spiritual wellness, we have to make sure what we consume is positive to our overall health. Linked to our mind is our heart, once something is in our head, it can go down and make a home in our heart if not treated right away. What does this mean?
Proverbs 4:23 says
‘”Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” To guard our hearts, we must be careful about what enters and exits through these gates.”‘
Here are some ways to strengthen our mental/emotional wellness:
- Heart Healing
- We don’t realize how much trauma, offense, hurt, etc., we carry, heart healing is a good way to get to the root of why we react in the way we do.
- My church uses Living Waters Ministry to do healing the heart.
- Christian Therapy
- I am not opposed to therapy, but I do believe you should have a Christian, Holy-Spirit filled therapist, who will lead you to Christ and give you biblically sound wisdom to counter the carnal mind.
- Eating Clean, Whole Foods as much as possible
- Diet is hugely linked to our mental/emotional health
- if we eat junk, we will feel like junk
- Lists of Whole Foods that will make you feel good (key is unprocessed whole foods)
- fruits and vegetables
- lean proteins
- low fat dairy products
- legumes and beans
- nuts and seeds
- whole grains
- Doing your hobby/passionproject
- What brings you joy? Do it! – give yourself an outlet when the stresses of life take a toll
- painting, reading, writing, playing an instrument, watching movies
- What brings you joy? Do it! – give yourself an outlet when the stresses of life take a toll
Why mental wellness is important?
Mental and emotional wellness comes down to filling up your cup again and filling your soul back up with life. It is making sure you are not surrounding or consuming yourself with things that will hinder your walk with God. Prioritizing your mental and emotional wellness is creating boundaries, and ensuring the environment around you is not toxic, but giving you life.
When you do something for your spiritual, physical, and mental/emotional wellness everyday, you become stronger in every aspect of life. You will start creating a well balanced, holistic approach to life. Once you make your internal wellness strong and healthy, it will overflow into every space around you.

Reading this was like listening to a song that fills you with both peace and a desire for deeper understanding.
Another essential read.
You brought up a lot of great points, and the one that sticks out the most for me is the people.
The people we sit with, talk with, walk with, worship with, workout with, cry with, laugh with, and grow with is everything.
Proverbs 27:17:”Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens another.”
Thank you for the knowledge and wisdom sister.
Keep being a blessing.
Good shout.
