Have you been petitioning to the Lord about something in your life? Do you feel like you’re not hearing or seeing God in your life, but you are continuously praying and contending? Are you getting doubtful, scatter brained, and feel like you have no direction? If that is you, I believe the Lord is saying, “okay, and…”
I know it doesn’t sound as sweet and gentle, but I believe this is the side of the Lord that is flipping tables in the temple and standing on business about His Word, but also saying “let my children come.” Today, the phrase “okay, and…” was lingering and when I took time to ask the Holy Spirit what this phrase meant today, He took me on a little journey to Matthew 14.
Matthew 14: 22-33
22 Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. 23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. 24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.
27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
33 Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”
As we read the text, we see Peter initiates the conversation first. Peter asks Jesus to prove His existence and give him an instruction. We, as believers, are often like Peter; we ask the Lord for direction and proof of His existence in a situation.
What does Jesus do?
He tells Peter to “Come.” A simple phrase, but nonetheless it was a Word spoken that allowed Peter to do the impossible and walk on water. Whatever we ask the Lord, it may seem impossible to the carnal eye and mind, but because it came out of the Lord’s mouth the command had life to do what it was sent to do. As a result of Jesus saying “Come,” Peter was able to go to Him.
Shortly, and perhaps seconds after, Peter saw the winds and got distracted and quickly forgot the Word that was spoken to Him.
My question to all of us is how often do we contend with the Lord to give us instruction and direction, and when we obey, how quickly do we forget what He said?
The Lord said “Come,” He didn’t say “Peter, take one step and then take a step to the right.” All Jesus said was “Come,” insinuating Peter to just move towards Him.
The Word of the Lord today is “okay, and…” because how often do we contend with the Lord, take our step of obedience, but then quickly forget what the Lord has said.
I believe some of us are spiritually in distress because we want Jesus to keep saying to us “Come…Come…Come…Keep Going…Go right, Go left, Yes, No,” but in reality He wants us to keep walking on the Word He initially gave us. That specific word should be sufficient for you until He says otherwise.
Word of the Lord
In my journal today, this is what I wrote down and what I believe the Lord is saying to encourage His people:
“Whatever you are petitioning to Me, says the Lord,
I say,
‘Okay, and…’
Don’t you know I go to the Father on your behalf.
Don’t you know whatever you ask in My name, it will be done.
Why are you stressing?
Whatever you are petitioning,
I am allowing you to talk, says the Lord,
But are you willing to listen?
Wait on Me, says the Lord,
Put your trust in Me.
In Jesus Name,
Amen.
Just because you think there is stillness or maybe you’re caught up in life’s distractions, doesn’t mean there is movement on behalf of the Lord.
The Lord is saying “okay, and…” because as we continue to talk and call for help, do we have the faith to stand on the Word God gave us to carry out through this season. Some of us are waiting for a new direction when you haven’t even reached your anticipated destination. I believe the Lord is urging us to stillness and quietness with Him, and to stop blabbering about what Has already been done and spoken forth.
Be patient. Stay the course. Wait for the Lord who is waiting on you to continue moving to where He wants you to go.
Love you.
Stay encouraged.

Great word Keilani- keep pressing towards the upward call of CHrist Jesus upon your life. let HIS Word continually be the Rock of Revelation that you stand on.
Amen and Amen!
Powerful word.
”I believe some of us are spiritually in distress because we want Jesus to keep saying to us “Come…Come…Come…Keep Going…Go right, Go left, Yes, No,” but in reality He wants us to keep walking on the Word He initially gave us.”
This message has so much meaning behind it.
It’s difficult at times when we don’t see the dramatic change, but He wants us to be patient. It’s difficult at times when we face troubles, but he wants us prepared.
When we lean onto Him fully there is no doubt, only trust, faith, and love.
God is good.
Thank you as always sis.
Endless blessings.
Amen! Praise the Lord!!!
